Plockton
Arguably one of the prettiest villages in Scotland, if
not in the whole of the UK, Plockton lies just outside the entrance to
Loch Carron, and is a natural harbour with good sheltered moorings.
Many visitors are surprised to find palm trees growing
along the water front, a clear indication of the effects of the Gulf
Stream on the West Coast of Scotland. |

Plockton will be familiar to viewers of the
"Hamish MacBeth" TV series of a few years ago, being one of the
main location settings.
The village has several hotels offering bar meals and
restaurant facilities. Seal boat trips are operated from the village on a
daily basis.
Plockton has a railway station on the Kyle line; a
journey here by train from Strathcarron makes a very pleasant outing with
some stunning views along the way. |
